About the Artist:

How you do you define character? How does our society view authenticity? Do we still relate to depth within human condition or are we too busy looking for the instant fix through social media? It is these questions that James strives to answer; exploring human character through layers of expression. By traveling and choosing people, ordinary people, he is able to capture a sense of life, virtue, dignity into them. The subjects are often people you would walk by and not give a second glance. They are not famous, nor are they in elaborate poses that are overly animated. Thus you are left with the message as an expression. It is this facial subtly that links all of us.

James has come a long way from selling photocopiers and creating Visual Effects to get to a place where he can successfully carry out his own vision. It is probably one of the toughest things for an artist, who has been pushed by deadlines and collective opinions, to cut out the noise and produce for himself. “This is the best I can do” is difficult to say as he suddenly exposes himself.
