Creativity is in Rob’s blood. As a young boy on his family property in Sidney, BC, Rob was always scavenging for wood to build a tree house or go kart. Working countless hours in his Dad’s workshop, this pastime developed into his passion. He just loved to create.
A deep love of the outdoors fuels Rob's work, and much of his inspiration comes from his beloved cabin on the Sooke River. Here he finds his materials - maple, cherry, fir, cedar and pine. Raw pieces are selected and studied, then the discovery begins. Each piece is an adventure. Working by hand, staying careful and present, he responds to the natural way of the wood, honoring each piece as it reveals itself. Some of his working is so fine, the wood appears almost lace-like where the wood grain and knots intertwine. Some edges are left raw and organic, some are smooth like silk. No two are alike.
Collected for their sheer beauty and character, Rob’s pieces are treasured indeed.
